PRFM - Treatment Details
First of all, blood is drawn. The drawn blood is placed into a centrifuge, and PRFM is created. The PRFM takes 15 to 20 minutes to produce. During that time the treatment area has an anesthetic cream applied to it and treatment preparations are made. Finally, the PRFM is injected to the treatment area and the treatment is completed. The injection takes 10 to 15 minutes. After the treatment some swelling and discomfort may occur, but after the swelling goes away the effect can be seen.This treatment uses only your own cells, so there's no need to worry about side effects or allergies.
What is PRFM?
PRFM is an abbreviation of "platelet rich fibrin matrix", a substance made of fibrin matrix mixed with growth factor. With similar earlier treatments, platelet rich plasma (prp) was injected, but because this included liquid components, it could not last at the injection point for very long. By mixing PRP together with a component from the blood called fibrin and converting this to a gel form, PRFM is created. In this gel form PRFM can stay at the injection point for a long time, and the included growth factor continues to be released in that area, so compared to PRP the effect is maintained for much longer.
Our clinic's determination
During the creation of the growth factor containing PRP, the centrifuge is used for a fixed number of rotations and time. In doing so the PRP's thickness and white blood cell count undergo a change.
